To help clear up any confusion and/or questions about MageCraft, I've decided to do a AMA, with some reatrictions. Post your question in the comments below, and I will attempt to answer it. You can ask anything anout MageCraft (within reason) including questions about the forums, planned features, development (No ETA requests! The initial release is set for Novemeber 30, unless something very big comes up.) etc...

Are you sad that no one has asked you a question yet?
Does this question make you happy?

What is the thing that you are most excited about (feature wise)? Alchemy. The entire mod was originally concieved as a way to make Equivalent Exchange more balanced, and eventually, it evolved into its own standalone mod. Alchemy is definitely my favorite feature, and it's also the one that is easiest to code. I also have the more work done on Alchemy than the other two branches.

What do you think your amount of world Gen would be? Are things going to be pretty? Have you thought about your mod being involved in either of the two big mod packs? Have you started working on block ID's? Are you using the openness of mods like EE3 to prevent conflicts in game? What stage in developement are you? Do you need any help? Mod Edit: User was warned for mod sass (0 points) Carry on

Have you started working on block ID's? Are you using the openness of mods like EE3 to prevent conflicts in game? What stage in developement are you? Do you need any help? At the moment there isn't any world gen besides ores. As for whether it will be pretty, beauty is in the eye if the beholder (read: I don't have textures for most items yet). Block and item IDs are assigned in the creation of each new item and block. On the Forge forums, there is a very handy list of available block and item IDs, which I've been using. Development-wise, I've got most of the items and blocks implemented in one form or another, even though most of them don't have crafting recipes or functionality yet. I'm currently working on implementing the crafting recipes and functionality of items and blocks, with the next step being an API. But don't expect everything to be functional in the initial release. At the moment I'm doing okay, but I could always use some more help with textures, and eventually I may get another programmer on-board to assist in developing the API.

How much user input are you hoping for/will you implement? Have you set up a GitHub? Have you fixed your AI?

Will you expand the features on from the stuff in the feature list? Definitely. The feature list is not set in stone, and I've been considering some changes to spell casting and summoning. In future releases, alchemy will be basically the same as it is currently decribed, with maybe a few changes for balance or to accommodate other branches. How much user input are you hoping for/will you implement? Have you set up a GitHub? Have you fixed your AI? I'm planning to listen to the userbase and incorporate popular requested features. I'm going to be listening to feedback from the community. I have a GitHub setup , but there is currently no source code in it. It can be found here: github.com/MageCraft-DevelopmentNo, I have not fixed the GreenBot13 AI. It's currently a low priority.

No, I have not fixed the GreenBot13 AI. It's currently a low priority. That reminds me, it's time to change out your potato. </ref="Portal 2"> Serious question, though... how many branches of magic are you interested in adding, beyond what's currently listed?

At the moment I'm okay with the three current branches of magic (Alchemy, Summoning, and Spell Casting) although I may add some sort of Dimension magic in the future.

I noticed something in the Features list. You mentioned Essences--can we have a bit more clarity on this? I was thinking about introducing "Essence of Metal" in those three tiers with the metal addon, but if it's a generic mana essence then I will have to rethink that approach.

I was thinking about introducing "Essence of Metal" in those three tiers with the metal addon, but if it's a generic mana essence then I will have to rethink that approach. Essence is the base of the alchemy branch. You break apart items into essence, then use it to build new items. Think of it as a cross between EE2 EMC and IC2 UU matter, but not as overpowered. (Hypothetical value here, have not set the essence values just yet) So an iron ingot would give you 5 essence. You could save that 5 essence for later and use ot to make something even better, or you could convert it into cobblestone, or wood. Certain items cannot be turned into essence, namely the really cheap/renewable blocks like cobblestone, dirt, and sand, and expensive items like diamonds.
