Soooo.... what do you guys think about magecraft. Excited? Has anyone gone through that list the developer gave out of all the features and items? It made my head explode. Which part of the mods feature or future feature are you most excited about? Let the chit-chat'ing begin!

Hugely excited. This thread seems a little meta, though.

Very excited. It's refreshing to see such a large scale mod with a down to earth developer. The most exciting part so far is that the dev seems very committed to making this the best mod possible by incorporating users feedback, while not compromising his "artistic vision"
That meta enough for you thea30n?

It feels weird to be able to talk of one of those mythical creatures, those modders, with a certain knowledge of the "person". Jakj doesn't count, because he's too epic to be put in a category. Also, is it only me, or Jorcer gets to have a bigger avatar than me?

Clearly my avatar is better and thus the forums wants it more visible It is odd to talk about Green along with the likes of Eloraam and such though... EDIT: Fine, Xylord I will tell you how to make it bigger... In the place where you set your avatar, just below that is a place where you can set the size. Just change those to 100 x 100

It is odd to talk about Green along with the likes of Eloraam and such though... I'm nowhere near as good a coder as Eloraam. Eloraam was one of the original founders of Forge, and the only one who still codes. I wouldn't be able to mod at all if it weren't for Eloraam, as her creation, Forge, is what I use to mod. Maybe someone else would have developed another Modding API by now, but that does not mean that Eloraam's contributions to Minecraft modding are any less amazing.

I know that, currently, Eloraam has made a larger contribution to the Minecraft modding community. What I was attempting to convey (while intoxicated and tired ) was that you have now joined the ranks of "true" modders (not the people who make a dirt to diamonds mod [which even I can do and I spent a whole 10 minutes looking at Java])

Don't derail this thread with silly talk about avatars I think I am gonna stick to this forum, something pinkyish has struck my account in technic... better avoid it 'til the infection is over... The thing I am excited about is Familiars... if the modder has done them properly then they may be the main attraction for me.

Can we just drop the "the modder" and call him Green? It is odd to talk about him like we don't know him. EDIT: Green do you have any idea when an alpha version may be released?

Did ya miss me? You guys didn't think you could get rid of me that easily. The prospect of throwable fire things brought me here faster than muanas fell from grace.

Did ya miss me? The prospect of throwable fire things brought me here faster than Munaus fell from grace. Nope, didn't miss ya. I wasn't aware of ever having a "grace"... dark knights don't have one. Unless I missed something back in the knight academy. Throwable fire? pff.. Try Dire Wolf familiar... if the dev made it look like MoM from technic.... gosh that would be amazing...

I can't gove you an exact date for an alpha/beta release, but the deadline is to get a woking version released by November 30.

I summon you, MoM (direwolf)!. Chase that silly bench-sitting viking to the water and force him to jump! The nature will take care of the rest... I wonder how long it takes to be able to summon a Fire Titan... I wanna have one of those

Don't give yourself a deadline, better that the mod at least works on first release than releasing a buggy pile of Mojang-code and breaking people's worlds.

I would argue that an alpha stage is beneficial (as long as it is restricted and users are aware that it is an early release) That allows people to identify strengths and weaknesses with the mod.

Don't give yourself a deadline, better that the mod at least works on first release than releasing a buggy pile of Mojang-code and breaking people's worlds. It's not a fixed release date. It's more of a goal/guideline for myself. I want to get a working version ready by that time. The full version may not be ready for another month after that, although I plan to have the full release ready before then.

An appetizer before the main course

An appetizer before the main course Sort of. At the very least, I want to have Alchemy and basic spell casting done for the first release. Not so much a demo as releasing features over time. Of course, the beta releases will be the testing ground of new features. So I'll probably release a beta before I release a "full" version, just for the purposes of testing and bug fixing.
